Upon the invitation extended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Ali Babacan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines His Excellency Alberto Romulo is paying an official visit to Turkey from 15 to 19 March 2009.

Within the scope of the visit, during the talks to be held on 18 March 2009, the possibilities of developing bilateral relations between Turkey and the Philippines will be taken up and an exchange of views will take place on regional and international issues of interest to both countries.

The Agreement on the Prevention of Double Taxation will be signed during the visit. Furthermore, the Filipino side will submit the instrument of ratification of the Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investment, paving the way for the entering into force of the said Agreement between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines will have some contacts in İstanbul and in İzmir, in addition to Ankara.
