We are deeply concerned over the rising spiral of violence resulting from rocket attacks directed at Israel from Gaza Strip and the military operations carried out by Israel in Gaza, costing the lives of many civilians including children.

Developments are such that they may lead to the fading of hopes for peace rekindled by the Annapolis process.

The success of steps taken towards a two state settlement will depend on the parties acting with sound judgement and extreme moderation, and the care they will show to refrain from actions that could endanger the continuation of the peace negotiations..

Turkey, believing that this spiral of violence has to end in the shortest time, will continue to strongly support as before the efforts aimed at reaching a just and durable peace based on a two state settlement.
