No:224, 6 October 2011, Press Release Regarding the "British-Turkish Tatlıdil” Forum

H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoğlu will visit the United Kingdom on October 7, 2011 to take part in the first meeting of “British-Turkish Tatlıdil” forum to be held at Ditchley Park (Oxfordshire). The forum was established during the official visit of H.E. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the UK on March 2011.

The forum will be organised on the basis of annual meetings to be held alternately in the UK and Turkey with the participation of political personalities as well as representatives of business, media, art and academic circles. The first meeting of the forum will host panel discussions concerning the global economy, recent developments in the Middle-East, EU-Turkish relations, energy security, migration as well as security and defence in the 21st Century.

The forum will be co-chaired by former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Yaşar Yakış on the Turkish side and H.E. Jack Straw on the British side.

H.E. Minister Davutoğlu will address the participants of the Forum at the inaugural dinner to be held on October 7. On this occasion, our Minister will hold talks with H.E. Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who will also deliver a speech at the dinner, and will also have the opportunity to meet with the senior figures from the British political, business, media, art and academic circles.

The “Tatlıdil” Forum, will largely contribute in further strengthening the impetus obtained in our bilateral relations with the UK in political, economic, cultural and social fields. The “British-Turkish Tatlıdil Forum” will be held in Turkey next year.
