Mr. Ali Babacan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be participating in the Munich Security Conference held on February 6-8, 2009.
The Munich Security Policy Conference is an important forum where international security and defense policies are discussed. This year’s gathering, which will host over 300 high ranking statesmen, politicians, academicians and security policy experts, will focus on the Caucasus and Balkans, the future of European Security, Disarmament and Afghanistan.
During the conference, Minister Babacan will deliver a speech on February 7th on the current developments in the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Middle East, and have bilateral meetings during the course of the event.
Following the conference, the Minister will visit Azerbaijan on February 9th. It is envisaged that the Minister will meet with Mr. Elmar Memmedyarov, his Azerbaijani counterpart, and also be received by President İlham Aliyev. During these meetings, regional developments as well as bilateral relations will be addressed.
