Turkey regrets that democracy in Mauritania, where democracy and contemporary values were progressively taking root in the new period following the free and transparent elections held in March 2007, has been disrupted by the intervention staged by the military on 6 August 2008.



We hope to see a swift restoration of democracy and the constitutional order in this country.
