No:124 - 11 July 2008, Press Release Regarding the Establishment of the National Unity Government Among the Lebanese Groups in Doha.

We welcome the establishment of the national unity government in the framework of the agreement that was reached among the Lebanese groups in Doha last May.

We believe that this development will contribute to the achievement of lasting stability and tranquility in the country.

We are of the opinion that the establishment of the national unity government following the election of the president is important in the sense that it demonstrates the determination of the Lebanese groups to act in reconciliation. We wish the Lebanese groups to continue in the period ahead to act in unity and solidarity in the framework of this spirit of compromise.

Turkey, as has been until today, is determined to continue its efforts towards the establishment of a lasting peace and stability in the friendly and brotherly country of Lebanon.
