Within the framework of Turkey’s non-permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) effective from January 1st, 2009, a meeting is being held in Ankara on 22 January 2009 with the participation of African Ambassadors resident in and accredited to Turkey.

Turkey, during her tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the period 2009-2010, exerts every effort for the maintenance of international peace and security in line with the principles and aims set out at the UN Charter and within the framework of regional issues and Turkey-Africa strategic cooperation, attaches special importance to events in Africa
