The General Secretariat of the OIC, also upon the request of Turkey, called the Executive Committee of the Organization to hold an expanded emergency meeting on 3 January 2009, to discuss the developments in Gaza.

A delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Babacan will participate in this meeting.

Following the said OIC meeting in Jeddah, Minister Babacan will meet with his Saudi counterpart His Royal Highness Prince Saud Al Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh, by accompanying Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who will be paying a visit to Saudi Arabia to exchange views with His Majesty King Abdullah regarding the latest situation in the region.
