“Turkey-Afghanistan-Pakistan Military Live Exercise on Urban Warfare” will be held in Istanbul 19-26 March 2011 on the basis of the decision taken at the conclusion of the 5th Trilateral Summit held on 24 December 2010.

The aforementioned exercise constitutes one of the tangible results of the Trilateral Summit process which was initiated in 2007 and which has become since then an increasingly important platform for dialogue and cooperation among the three countries on a wide range of issues. We are convinced that the exercise will contribute to the stability and development of the region by bolstering solidarity and the culture of collaboration among the three countries.

An International Distinguished Observers Day will also be held in Istanbul on 25 March as part of the exercise. The International Distinguished Observers Day clearly represents the importance attached to transparency as well as the confidence in the level of cooperation attained among the three countries.

The momentum gathered hitherto in the Trilateral Summit Process would be furthered through similar activities in the time ahead.
