It is welcomed that the referendum on the draft constitution which was held in Egypt on 15 and 22 December 2012 took place in a calm atmosphere.

The constitutional referendum process constituted an important stage in the struggle for democracy launched by the friendly and brotherly Egyptian people in January 2011. We fully believe that Egypt will continue to proceed towards democracy and stability through the forthcoming general elections.

Turkey will continue to extend its support to the friendly and brotherly Egypt through its democratization process.
