No: 222, 28 September 2020, Press Release Regarding the Participation of H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends via Videoconference

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will participate via videoconference in the Annual High-Level Meeting of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) to be held under the theme of “Shaping a Better World: Building Cohesive and Inclusive Societies in a Challenging COVID-19 Environment” on 29 September 2020.

The meeting will be hosted by UNAOC High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos. During the course of the meeting, the activities of the Alliance will be assessed and further responses will be discussed within the context of the rise in the cases of discrimination and racism, including Islamophobia due to COVID-19.

UN Secretary General H.E. Antonio Guterres, President of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly H.E. Volkan Bozkır and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain H.E. Arancha Gonzalez Laya will also participate in the meeting through video-messages.

UNAOC, which was formally launched in 2005, is co-sponsored by Turkey and Spain.
