Elections to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), the monitoring body of the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, to which Turkey became party in 2002, were held in New York on June 3, 2013.

Mr. Gün Kut, Associate Professor at Boğaziçi University, who is already serving on the Committee and whose term expires by the end of 2013 has been renominated by Turkey and elected in the first round with 125 votes in the elections in which 16 candidates competed for the 9 vacant seats

Accordingly, Assoc. Prof. Gün Kut will continue to serve on the Committee between 2014 and 2017.
