No: 114, 18 May 2016, Press Release Regarding the Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, will attend the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels on May 19-20, 2016.

During this meeting, signature ceremony of Montenegro’s Accession Protocol will take place at the first session with the participation of H.E. Milo Đukanović, Prime Minister of Montenegro. Consequently, Montenegro will attend other sessions of the Ministerial as “invitee”.

On the occasion of the Ministerial, a session will also be held with the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) operational partners, as well as Japan, South Korea and Afghanistan. At this session, possible commitments of the Alliance towards Afghanistan in 2017 will be discussed.

Subsequently, a session with the participation of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Finland will focus mainly on the NATO-EU cooperation.

NATO Foreign Ministers, on this occasion, will discuss topics on NATO’s agenda and review ongoing strands of work in the run up to the Warsaw Summit to be held in July.

Minister Çavuşoğlu is also expected to hold bilateral contacts in Brussels with his counterparts from Allied and Partner countries.
