On June 13, 2014, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu‎, Minister of Economy Mr. Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Energy Mr. Taner Yildiz and Minister of Transportation Mr. Lutfi Elvan held a crisis desk coordination meeting within the framework of recent development in Iraq.

‎Speaking at the joint press conference following the meeting, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stated that the scope of the crisis desk established within the Foreign Ministry is extended. Foreign Minister asked Turkish people to take into consideration information provided by the crisis desk.

Foreign Minister Davutoglu emphasized that Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Naci Koru, as the Coordinator of the Crisis Desk will inform the public on a daily basis.

Stating that Irak is a friendly and a brotherly country, Forein Minister Davutoğlu said "We will stand by our Iraqi brothers as we have stoody by all our brotherly countries in their time of need"

Saying that Ministry officials continue to liason with TIR drivers, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said "Director-General for Consular Affairs talk with the drivers who were taken hostage everyday"
