H.E. Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey is paying a visit to Austria on 21-22 October 2015 on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the commemorative plate placed on the outer wall of the Turkish Embassy in Vienna as tribute to Ambassador Daniş Tunalıgil, Vice Labour Counsellor Erdoğan Özen and Turkish diplomat Evner Ergun who served at the United Nations Office in Vienna - our fallen diplomats, who lost their lives in the attacks perpetrated by ASALA and other affiliated terrorist organisations, in Vienna in 1970s and 1980s.

Sebastian Kurz, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Europe and Integration of the Republic of Austria, family members of the fallen diplomats and Turkish citizens living in Austria participated in the commemoration ceremony which coincided with the 40th anniversary of the day when Ambassador Daniş Tunalıgil had fallen.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the commemorative plate, Foreign Minister Sinirlioğlu said Vienna, a historical city which was the center of a great empire which holds a distinctive place in Europe with its important cultural and architectural heritage, has come to denote a capital for Turkey where its three distinguished diplomats whose memories we enshrine in our hearts had fallen. Stating that we will never forget these three distinguished people who selflessly devoted themselves for their country and peace with their sense of duty, Foreign Minister Sinirlioğlu noted that the justice has not been served for our fallen diplomats as their murderers have not been caught yet.

Expressing the sorrow caused by the ongoing expressions of hatred which instigate extremism and target innocent people, Foreign Minister Sinirlioğlu emphasized that Turkey is determined to continue its fight against all forms of terrorism.
