
Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey paid a working visit to Jordan on May 10, 2013.
At the meetings chaired by Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and Mr. Naser Judeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, implementation of the issues agreed during the visit of King Abdullah to Turkey were reviewed and it was agreed to further develop the bilateral cooperation.
Moreover, on Syria, Foreign Ministers addressed the situation on the ground and the recent momentum concerning political solution and confirmed that the two countries share similar ideas. Mutual understanding that in accordance with the document agreed in Geneva last year, transitional administration in Syria should have full executive power and should be established based on mutual consent was noted. It was emphasized that regime authorities who shed blood should play a role in neither transitional administration nor the future of Syria. Ministers also pointed out that Turkey and Jordan have a special position as these two neigbouring countries are among the most affected countries by the crisis and stated that coordination and contacts between the two countries will continue.
Jordanian Foreign Minister informed about the latest initiatives and meetings concerning the Middle East Peace Process. Foreign Ministers stressed that main goal is the establishment of a independent Palestine State based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Efforts towards reconciliation between the Palestinian groups were also addressed and it was underlined that Jordan and Turkey will continue to support the process.
