Foreign Minister Davutoğlu meets with Ambassadors of Asia-Pacific countries

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu met with Ambassadors of Asia-Pacific countries in Ankara at a working breakfast on February 25, 2014.

Ambassadors of People’s Republic of China, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Chargés d’affaires of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines as well as Chairmen of Inter-parliamentary Friendship Groups at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) attended the working breakfast.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu informed the Ambassadors on Turkey’s relations with the Asia Pacific countries and referring to newly opened Turkish Embassies in the region, talked about the steps taken with a view to developing relations with the Asia Pacific countries.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that Turkey will continue to be interested in the region in the forthcoming period and that Turkey is in cooperation with the regional countries concerning numerous international issues. Pointing the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Groups established with the Asia-Pacific countries at the GNAT Foreign Minister Davutoğlu noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanisms are of importance to bilateral relations and these relations should be further developed.

Moreover Foreign Minister Davutoğlu, upon the questions, informed the participants about the current situation in Syria and recent developments in the region, Turkey’s attitude towards the developments in Myanmar and settlement negotiations in Cyprus.

At the meeting, it was agreed to hold similar meetings on a regular basis.
