Foreign Minister Davutoğlu attends NATO Foreign Ministerial

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoğlu attended the meeting of NATO Minister of Foreign Affairs held in Brussels on June 24-25, 2014.

At the meetings; regional developments, NATO’s Open Door Policy, the Alliance’s engagement with Afghanistan in the post-2014 period, as well as the preparations for the NATO Wales Summit in September 2014, and in that context, the strengthening of NATO’s relationship with its partners were discussed.

Within the framework of the meeting, NATO-Ukraine Commission was convened at the level of Ministers and a separate session of the North Atlantic Council was held with the Foreign Ministers of the non-NATO ISAF contributing nations.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu held bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of the USA, Greece, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Italy and Georgia within the scope of the meeting.

Addressing the latest developments in Iraq, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and the U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry exchanged views on the need of a new beginning in Iraq, immediate establishment of an inclusive government, revision of the security structure in Iraq with a view to improving the security situation on the ground and maintaining stability.

On the other hand, at the meeting Foreign Minister Davutoğlu held with his Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos, all aspects of the bilateral relations were reviewed and views were exchanged on current regional and global issues of mutual concern.
