Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a working visit to the US on 27-29 March 2016. He also accompanied President Erdoğan during his visit to the US to attend the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington on 31 March-1 April 2016.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with the US Secretary of State Kerry and President’s National Security Advisor Rice to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also delivered a speech on Turkish foreign policy at a conference held in the George Washington University, and met with the representatives of the American Muslim Community and different belief groups at the Turkish-American Community Center.

In the margins of the summit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Argentina, Thailand and Australia as well as Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency. Furthermore, he attended the ceremony held on the occasion of the opening of the Turkish-American Culture and Civilization Center in Maryland by President Erdoğan.
