Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Sri Lanka on 14-15 June 2016. During this first visit paid at Foreign Ministerial level from Turkey to Sri Lanka, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, and met with Foreign Minister as well as the members of the Sri Lanka-Turkey Friendship Group of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

During the visit which provided an opportunity to discuss all aspects of relations and cooperation between the two countries, the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Turkey and Sri Lanka on diplomatic training, exchange of information and documentation was also signed.
