Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Saudi Arabia on 24 April 2016 to participate in the conference held in Riyadh by the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in memory of the former Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was also received by King Salman, and had a meeting with Foreign Minister Al Jubeir regarding bilateral cooperation which is further strengthened through the establishment of Turkey-Saudi Arabia Coordination Council. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with President Al Fehaid of Arab Tourism Organisation with a view to further developing cooperation in the field of tourism.
