Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Hungary on 8-9 February 2016, upon the invitation Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

Within the scope of his visit to Hungary, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, Laszlo Köver and Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also visited the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre in Budapest.

In the context of his said visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu held a bilateral meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjarto and later co-chaired the meeting between delegations with his counterpart. In the meeting during which all aspects of bilateral relations were reviewed, events to be organized on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’s death as well as developments in Syria, issues of refugees and migration and latest regional and international issues of common concern for both countries were discussed. Following the meetings two foreign ministers held a joint press conference.
