Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister of Finland Erkki Tuomioja

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Erkki Tuomioja who paid an official visit to Ankara on 19 November 2014. Following the bilateral and inter-delegation meetings, a joint press conference was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Emphasizing that Turkey attributes great importance to bilateral relations and the 90th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated with various activities, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that at the meetings they reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations as well as recent regional and global developments.

Reminding that the two countries carry out joint efforts under the umbrella of several international organizations and Mediation for Peace initiative as the most prominent example of this partnership, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu thanked Finnish Foreign Minister for Finland’s support to Turkey’s European Union negotiation process and Turkey’s full membership to the EU.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and his counterpart Erkki Tuonioja later on participated in “The Symposium on 90th Anniversary of Turkey-Finland Friendship Agreement”, also attended by 11th President of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Abdullah Gül and Former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari.
