Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu is paying an official visit to Turkmenistan on 28 and 29 January 2015. Within the framework of his visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamedov and met his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov.

During the meetings, economic, military and education issues as well as the exemplary bilateral political relations were reviewed.

Touching upon the importance of high level visits between the two countries, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that in the last seven years 14 presidential visits were realized and that these visits made a positive impact on bilateral relations in many fields.

At Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s meeting with Foreign Minister Meredov, views were exchanged on developing economic and commercial relations and encouraging bilateral investments. In the meeting during which cooperation opportunities in energy security and transportation issues were discussed, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed that Turkey’s export, which is at the level of 2.6 billion USD, will increase this year and economic relations will be further developed.

Within the scope of his visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will attend Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Turkey Trilateral Foreign Ministerial summit tomorrow (January 29th).
