Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu is in Kuwait

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Kuwait, on 17-18 January 2015. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Prime minister of Kuwait Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and met with his counterpart Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

During the Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s meeting with the Emir Al-Jaber Al-Sabah counter-terrorism, relations with Iraq, latest development in the region and bilateral relations were discussed. At the meetings, economic and trade relations and increasing the trade volume and reciprocal investments were also reviewed.

Speaking at the press conference held after his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister said “We think alike with Kuwait on regional issues. In the next period, we will continue to work together on the resolution of problems and on overcoming existing threats.”

Stating that they had the opportunity to touch upon economic relations as well as perfectly progressing bilateral relations, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said that the trade volume that exceeded 500 million USD as of November 2014 is insufficient and the common target is increasing the trade volume up to 1 billion USD “as soon as possible.”

Within the framework of the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was also received at the Kuwaiti National Assembly by the parliamentary speaker Al-Ghanim. Later, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with our citizens living in Kuwait at the Embassy.
