Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to People’s Republic of China on 31 October 2014, to attend the 4th Foreign Ministerial Conference of Istanbul Process which is held in order to establish stability in Afghanistan.

At the conference, support that will be given to Afghanistan was extensively discussed and within this framework, participants exchanged views regarding the steps that will be taken in the fields of security, economy, politics and confidence-building measures.

Within the framework of the meeting, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu adressed his counterparts and underlined that Istanbul Process started with the initiatives of Turkey.

Expressing our wish to sustain positive atmosphere in Afghanistan owing to steps that will be taken by the international community, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey will continue to support Afghanistan in every platform.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also held bilateral talks with Sertaç Aziz, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shariff’s National Security and External Relations Advisor, Rashid Meredov, Vice-President of the Cabinet and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, and Javad Zarif, Iranian Foreign Minister in Beijing.
