Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan during his visits to Uganda, Kenya and Somalia

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan during his visits to Uganda, Kenya and Somalia on 31 May-3 June 2016. The visit to Uganda was the first Presidential visit to this country from Turkey.

During these visits, Turkey’s bilateral relations with Uganda, Kenya and Somalia as well as regional and international issues were discussed. Furthermore, bilateral agreements were signed in various fields. President Erdoğan received an honorary doctorate degree from Makerere University in Uganda. Speaking at Turkey-Uganda Business Forum and Turkey-Kenya Business Forum, President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of developing bilateral economic and trade relations. In Somalia, President Erdoğan also attended the opening ceremony of the Turkish Embassy compound in Mogadishu, and stated that the number of Turkish Embassies in Africa has increased from 12 to 39 in the last 10 years. During his visits, President Erdoğan underlined that Turkey’s relations with Africa have developed significantly in every field over the last years and that 32 African countries have Embassies in Turkey.
