At the first quarter of 2010, with a new regulation which enabled diplomatic missions of the countries concerned to get accredited to the East African Community (EAC), the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Tanzania presented his credentials to the EAC Secretary General on 22 June 2010 at a ceremony held at its headquarters. Thus, Turkey established diplomatic relations with the most important inter-governmental organization of the East African region, EAC. Turkey is the fourth country which has been accredited to the EAC.
Developments related to the East African Community are closely followed by Turkey. The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the United Republic of Tanzania which is accredited to the EAC, participated at the EAC Heads of State Summits held in 2009 and 2010. This indicates the sincere manifestation of Turkey to cooperate with the EAC.
