Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan who paid an official visit to Vatican and Italy, 4-5 February 2018.

Within the margins of the visit to Vatican, PresidentErdoğan met with Pope Francis on February 5, Monday. The said visit constituted the first visit from Turkey at the presidential level after a period of 59 years.

President Erdoğan visited Italy and was welcomed in Rome by Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy with an official ceremony after he concluded his visit to Vatican.

President Erdoğan and his Italian counterpart held a bilateral meeting.

Following the meeting, President Erdoğan and Italian President Mattarella attended a working dinner between the delegations.

President Erdoğan received Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni of Italy as a part of his visit to Italy.
