Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s visit to Baku, 30 November-1 December 2017

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Baku on November 30th-December 1st to attend the first ever Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkey Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting and Seventh Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process on Afghanistan respectively.

On Thursday, November 30th, prior to the Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. At the meeting, current bilateral issues were evaluated.

During the Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting, which was also attended by Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan and Khawaja Muhammad Asif of Pakistan, the possibilities for further developing the relations among Turkey-Azerbaijan-Pakistan were discussed. The meeting also provided the opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues.

The Joint Declaration adopted at the meeting will constitute the roadmap of trilateral cooperation mechanism.

Following the Trilateral Foreign Ministers Meeting, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, led by Samad Seyidov, and reiterated Turkey’s continued support to Azerbaijan at every international platform.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Oktay Asadov, the President of Azerbaijan’s Parliament. At the meeting, joint will to further improve relations between the parliaments of Turkey and Azerbaijan was reconfirmed.

Within the margins of the visit to Baku, Minister Çavuşoğlu visited Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and thanked Günay Efendiyeva, President of the Foundation and the staff for their contributions to Turkish culture.

On Friday, December 1st, the Seventh Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process on Afghanistan was held. At the Conference, Turkey’s vision and strong support for a secure and prosperous Afghanistan was reiterated.
