Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Paraguay on 31 January-1 February 2017, the second stop of his tour to Latin American countries that includes also visits to Argentina, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s visit constituted the first-ever high level and the first foreign-ministerial level visit from Turkey to Paraguay.
The visit commenced with visiting “Casa de la Independencia” and wreath laying ceremony. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu then signed the book of honor.
After the bilateral meeting of Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and his counterpart Eladio Loizaga, bilateral, regional and global issues were discussed between the delegations.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies Hugo Velazquez and visited the Congress building. In the meeting held between Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and President Velazquez, cooperation opportunities between the parliaments were discussed.
During the visit, bilateral agreements of "Friendship and Cooperation" and "Air Transport" were signed.
