Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Japan, 4-6 November 2018

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Japan on 4-6 November 2018 upon the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono to discuss the momentum gained in Turkey-Japan cooperation, and to exchange views on regional and international issues.

On November 4, Sunday, Minister Çavuşoğlu visited Nagoya and met with Turkish citizens. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkish citizens constitute an important tie between Turkey and Japan thousands of kilometers away from home, and that Turkey stands by its citizens through monthly consular services in Nagoya.

On November 5, Monday, Minister Çavuşoğlu delivered a speech on “Turkish Foreign Policy and Recent Developments in the Middle East” at the seminar organized by Middle East Institute of Japan in Tokyo.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Taro Kono of Japan. At the joint conference before the meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that Turkey-Japan cooperation and dialogue are strengthening in all areas. Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized our appreciation that 2019 will be celebrated in Japan as Year of Turkish Culture.

On November 6, Tuesday, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko of Japan. At the meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey offers opportunities for Japanese investors to reach Middle East, Central Asia and Africa markets.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was also received by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey’s bilateral relations with Japan, that will take over G20 term presidency in 2019, continue to grow steadily in all fields.
