Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Albania on 18-19 October 2018.

On Thursday, October 18th, 2018 Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the academic year of University of New York Tirana transferred to Turkish Maarif Foundation. In his speech, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized the priority in Turkey's foreign policy for stability and prosperity in the Balkans.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also attended a meeting organized by the Albania-Turkey Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tirana.

On Friday, October 19th, 2018 Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati of Albania. At the meeting, both Ministers evaluated Turkey-Albania cooperation potential, in particular in the area of fight against terrorism and agreed on establishing a High Level Cooperation Council.

During the visit, Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu was received by President Ilir Meta, Speaker of Parliament Gramoz Ruçi and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also had a meeting with Lulzim Basha, Leader of the Democratic Party, which is the main opposition party in Albania.
