Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Slovakia, 26 May 2017

Following his visit to Belgium, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu arrived in Bratislava, on 26 May 2017, for GLOBSEC 2017 Forum and for an official visit.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and Prime Minister Robert Fico of Slovakia held a bilateral meeting and exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and regional issues.

Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia held a meeting and elaborated on current bilateral and regional agenda. Minister Çavuşoğlu held a joint press conference with his equivalent Lajčák and replied the questions of press members on his visit to Slovakia and on Turkey-EU relations.

Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the official opening of GLOBSEC 2017 Forum and the afternoon session of the Forum on “Homegrown Solutions for the Middle East”. Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined the need for political solutions to achieve stability and success in combating terrorism at the said session.

In the margins of the Forum, Minister Çavuşoğlu had a talk with former President of Bulgaria Plevneliev and with Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Senator Ron Johnson and received Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG's Department of Foreign Relations.

At Visegrad Group (V4) + Turkey Meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu discussed regional developments and cooperation with his counterparts, Lubomir Zaorálek of Czechia, Péter Szijjártó of Hungary, Witold Waszczykowski of Polland and Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia.

During his visit Minister Çavuşoğlu evaluated Turkey-EU relations and Turkey’s expectations at an interview to TASR, news agency of Slovakia, on 26 May.
