The new session of the Conference on Cyprus, which aims at a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus began in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on 28 June 2017 and last until 7 July.

Turkey was represented at the session by a delegation led by Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Minister Çavuşoğlu arrived in Switzerland on 27 June 2017 and attended the official dinner with two sides and guarantors.

Minister Çavuşoğlu had an assesment of the situation at the meeting with President Mustafa Akıncı of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

At the margins of the resumed Cyprus Conference, Çavuşoğlu had an exchange of views with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and met with the UNSG Special Advisor Espen Barth Eide.

On the morning of 28 June, the new session of the Conference on Cyprus officially commenced.

During the day, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu had a meeting with UN delegation headed by UNGS Jeffrey Feltman.

Minister Çavuşoğlu assessed the situation at a dinner with the political party leaders from TRNC at the end of the first day.

On 29th of June, the second day of the new session of the Conference on Cyprus started with the meeting in the morning and reconconeved afternoon.

Minister Çavuşoğlu came together with the Turkish press and answered their questions following the meeting in the morning.

During the day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with UNSG Special Advisor Eide again.

The third day of the new session of the Conference on Cyprus started with the presence of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on 30th of June. The Conference continued with the plenary session followed by the meeting of the smaller group.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met with UNSG Guterres and also had a meeting with Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom.

Minister Çavuşoğlu assessed the situation with President Mustafa Akıncı of the TRNC.

At the end of the third day, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the official dinner hosted by UNSG Guterres and had a meeting with the political party representatives from TRNC.

Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the meeting of the smaller group at the 4th day of the Conference on Cyprus.

On 2 July, Minister Çavuşoğlu made an assessment with President Akıncı of TRNC and continued evaluations at a working lunch with the participation of Foreign Minister, leaders of political parties & members of Parliament of TRNC.

Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the meeting of the smaller group, on the 6th day of the new session of the Conference.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu evaluated the latest situation with President Akıncı and the delegation of TRNC at the working lunch, met with UNSG Special Advisor Eide and attended the new session of the Conference which continued with the meeting of the smaller group.

Minister Çavuşoğlu then met President Akıncı and the leaders of the TRNC Political parties to review the developments at the Conference.

The new session of the Conference continued with the meeting held on the morning of July 4.

Minister Çavuşoğlu replied questions of the media members at the Conference.

The seventh day of the new session of the Conference ended with the smaller group meeting. Upon the invitation of the political parties forming the Government of TRNC, Minister Çavuşoğlu evaluated the current situation with Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktaş and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Alan Duncan, Minister of State of the UK at the Conference. Contacts of Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu continued with Espen Barth Eide, UNSG Special Adviser on Cyprus. Minister Çavuşoğlu, had a meeting with Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias of Greece. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and President Akıncı of TRNC met and continued their evaluations on the Conference.

The eighth day on the Conference continued with the small group meeting following the bilateral contacts and evaluations of Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu. On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu replied questions of the media.

The ninth day of the new session of the Conference on Cyprus started with the presence of UNSG Antonio Guterres. Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Minister Çavuşoğlu and UNSG Guterres came together and made evaluations on the Conference. Minister Çavuşoğlu attended official lunch hosted by UNSG Guterres.

After the Conference which has not produced any results, Minister Çavuşoğlu replied questions of the press.

Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined that Conference unfortunately has not produced any results, although Turkey was very constructive, no agreement could be reached, this outcome shows the impossibility of reaching a settlement within the parameters of the UN Good Offices Mission, Turkey attaches importance to maintain and increase stability on Island / in region and that Turkey will continue efforts for a settlement within different parameters.
