On 13 June 2017, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Alain Aimé Nyamitwe, Minister of External Relations and International Cooperation of Burundi at iftar paying a three day official visit to Turkey.

Nyamitwe’s visit is the first visit at the level of Foreign Minister from Burundi to Turkey.

At the meetings between Minister Çavuşoğlu and Nyamitwe, the will to further develop bilateral cooperation was underlined and various agreements were signed to this end (Agreement Concerning Mutual Abolition of Visas For Holders of Diplomatic Passports, Agreement on Cultural Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture and Livestock, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Turkey and The Ministry of External Relations and International Cooperation of the Government of the Republic of Burundi).

Following the meetings, the two Ministers replied questions of the media at the joint press conference.
