Turkey’s relations with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR)

Turkey became a member of CGIAR by allocating 500.000 USD to the Group in 2005.

Thanks to the membership, Turkey has a say in its decision-making mechanism and a role both in the central structure within the Group and its affiliated research centers. Thereby, Turkey can play a role in determining research fields, their implementation, and protects its interests, as well as those of Turkish Republics in Central Asia and other friendly countries.

The highest ranking member Turkish citizen is Mr. Selçuk ÖZGEDİZ, who retired from the World Bank and is currently serving as Senior Advisor to the Director of the Group.

Turkey allocated 600.000 USD and 400.000 USD respectively in 2008 and 2009
