Accompanying President Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Kazakhstan

Accompanying President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Kazakhstan on April 15-16, 2015.

Paying an official visit to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, President of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was welcomed with an official ceremony by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the Presidential Palace. In addition to Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu, several ministers and businesspeople accompanied President Erdoğan.

Following a tete-a-tete meeting at the Presidential Palace, President Erdoğan and Nazarbayev co-chaired the second meeting of the Turkey-Kazakhstan High Level Cooperation Council. A signature ceremony of the agreements and a joint press conference were held after this meeting.

Speaking at the joint press conference President Erdoğan stated that cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan is of great importance to the region’s welfare, stability and security. President Erdoğan said “It is necessary for countries like Turkey and Kazakhstan which are symbols of security, stability and welfare in their region, to act in cooperation against the ring of fire encircling our region today.” Indicating that reciprocal support regarding international candidatures of the two countries will continue, President Erdoğan said that Turkey will give all the support to Kazakhstan’s candidacy for the non-permanent member seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2017-2018.
