The Jeddah Elementary School was established in 1982 within the premises of the Turkish Consulate General in Jeddah. Its 800 pupils haveN been housed in a prefabricated unit until the end of 1998-1999 school year.
With the aim of improving educational conditions of this school , the Turkish Ministry of National Education had a new building constructed on a land of one acre donated by a Saudi citizen and with the contributions of the Turkish citizens resident in Saudi Arabia. The school opened for the term 1999-2000 in this building.
The opening ceremony of the school , which will also provide education at the high school level, will take place on 11 December 1999. Mehmet Keçeciler , Minister of State,who will be in Saudi Arabia on a different occassion on the same date, Bener Cordan ,Undersecretary of Ministry of National Education , Mehmet Nuri Yılmaz, President of the Religious Affairs and Türkekul Kurttekin, Director General of Bilateral Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Former Ambasssador to Riyadh will attend this ceremony.
