The letter of the German Presidency of the European Union inviting Turkey to present its Negotiating Position Document for the “Financial Control” chapter was received on 14 February 2007.

Following the receipt of the Presidency’s letter, Turkey’s Negotiating Position Document for this chapter has been prepared with the contributions of the relevant public institutions and non-governmental organisations. The Document was submitted to the “Intergovernmental Conference on Turkey’s Accession to the European Union” on 13 April 2007.

During the German Presidency we expect to open negotiations on the chapter “Financial Control”, as well as the chapters “Economic and Monetary Policy” and “Statistics”, for which our Negotiating Position Documents were conveyed previously.

Together with the “Financial Control”, Turkey has so far submitted its Negotiating Position Documents for 6 chapters.
